프라하의 추억과 낭만 : 체코프라하국립미술관 소장품전 Memory of Landscape I Have Never Seen

 

 국립현대미술관은 프라하국립미술관의 주요 소장품 가운데 1905년부터 1943년까지 체코를 배경으로 활동한 주요화가 28명의 회화작품 총 107점을 엄선하여 선보인다. 프란티셰크 쿠프카(František Kupka), 에밀 필라(Emil Filla) 등 서유럽미술사에서도 중요한 족적을 남긴 거장들에서부터 보후밀 쿠비슈타(Bohumil Kubišta), 얀 즈르자비(Jan Zrzavy), 바츨라프 슈팔라(Václav Špála), 토옌(Toyen) 등에 이르기까지 체코 근대화가 28명이 총망라되어 있다. 

 이번 전시는 체코 근대기 주요 미술품이 한국에 소개되는 최초의 전시로서, 국보급 체코 근대미술작품을 한자리에서 만날 수 있는 흔치 않은 기회이다. 19세기 말부터 20세기 초까지 격동의 역사를 거치며 구축된 체코 근대 미술의 역사를 일목요연하게 다루고 있으며, 뛰어난 문화적 역량을 지닌 체코 예술가들의 진지한 작품세계를 조망한다. 이번 전시를 통해 관람객들은 체코에 버금가는 정치 사회적 혼란을 겪었던 근대기 한국미술가들의 사유과정을 다른 각도로 해석해보고, 나아가 21세기를 살아가는 우리의 모습을 자문하는 계기가 될 것이다.

 The National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea presents a special exhibition, Memory of Landscape I have never seen: Collection of the National Galley in Prague. Held in National Museum of Art, Deoksugung in Seoul between January 25 and April 21, the event guides art lovers in Korea to a fine collection of 107 paintings produced by 28 Czech artists from 1905 and 1943. The show covers the paintings of 28 Czech modern artists including the Czech masters, František Kupka and Emil Filla who left important legacies even in the Western European art history, as well as other equally well-known artists like Bohumil Kubišta, Jan Zrzavý, Václav Špála, Toyen and so on.  

 As the Korea’s first exhibition to introduce works by modern masters of Czech Republic, it will give Korean art lovers a rare opportunity to appreciate some of the Czech’s greatest modern paintings. The exhibition is aimed at offering viewers a succinct, but comprehensive, introduction to the Czech’s modern art developed through the turbulence the country suffered in the period from late 19th to early 20th century as well as the distinctive aesthetic sensibilities and cultural capabilities of Czech artists. So, art lovers visiting the exhibition will be offered a valuable opportunity to peep into the struggles of Korean artists to get over the political and social difficulties troubling them and think over the 21st century they need to move through.
