플라토 PLATEAU (C-31)

삼성미술관 플라토는 리움 개관 10주년을 기념하여 한국 현대미술의 현장을 새롭게 바라보는 기획전을 개최한다. 2001년 국내 신진작가 지원을 목표로 시작된 ‘아트스펙트럼’은 올해까지 총 5회에 걸쳐 진행되어 온 리움의 대표적인 전시 프로그램이다. ‘아트스펙트럼’을 출발점으로 시작된 ‘스팩트럼-스페트럼’전은 리움의 지난 10여 년의 성과를 기념하고 앞으로의 방향을 더욱 확장된 시각으로 제시하고자 한다.

전시의 참여작가들은 ‘아트스펙트럼’ 출신 작가 7명과 그들이 추천하는 동료/후배 작가들 7명으로 구성되며 김범-길종상가, 미나와 Sasa[44]-슬기와 민, 지니서-홍영인, 오인환-이미혜, 이동기-이주리, 이형구-정지현, 정수진-경현수를 포함한 총 14명(팀)의 작가들은 오늘날 미술가들이 처한 현실에 대한 인식과 사유, 그리고 다양한 자구책과 해법을 각자만의 방식으로 모색한다. 미로(迷路)의 인식에서부터 비즈니스 모델의 구축에 이르기까지 회화, 비디오, 조각, 설치, 퍼포먼스 등 다양한 시각적 매체로 드러나는 이들의 현실인식은 작가들 스스로 생산한 텍스트를 포함하여 풍부한 볼거리와 생각거리를 제공할 것이다. 

In commemorating the 10th anniversary of Leeum, PLATEAU, Saumsung Museum of Art is pleased to present Spectrum-Spectrum, an exhibition examining the diverse spectrum of Korean contemporary art today. This exhibition takes ARTSPECTRUM, Leeum’s core biennial program for emerging artists, as point of departure. Inviting seven past participants of ARTSPECTRUM along with seven peer artists of their recommendation, Spectrum-Spectrum honors Leeum’s past decade of accomplishments, at the same time layering PLATEAU’s expanded perspective for the future.

The fourteen participating artists (teams) in the exhibition, including Kim Beom-Kiljong Arcade, MeeNa & Sasa[44]-Sulki & Min, Jinnie Seo-Young In Hong, Inhwan Oh-Meehye Lee, Dongi Lee-Juri Lee, Hyungkoo Lee-Jihyun Jung, Suejin Chung-Hyounsoo Kyung, each seek their own solutions and answers to the realities they are faced with as artists today. From a puzzling maze as metaphor of life to proposing a new business model of art production, the shrewd sense of reality expressed in the various artistic forms will provide ample grounds for visualizing their unique insights.
