제3회 강릉국제아트페스티벌 《에시자, 오시자》는 대관령을 핵심 요소로 삼아 새로운 접근을 시도한다. 지난 회엔 대관령 옛길을 걷는 여정자의 이야기에 초점을 맞췄다면, 올해는 대관령을 넘나드는 인간이외의 다양한 존재들에 주목한다. 바람과 구름, 옛이야기와 기억에 새겨진 풍경들, 산새와 들짐승, 이끼와 야생화, 보이지 않는 미생물, 스치는 눈발과 바람결에 실려오는 먼지, 대지를 어루만지는 그림자와 별빛, 그리고 그곳에서 탄생한 신화와 전설, 설화 등을 걸음의 주체로 전환하며, 축적과 시간을 달리해 대관령을 둘러싼 새로운 관점을 탐구하고자 한다.
전시뿐만 아니라 다양한 프로그램도 무료로 운영해 관람객들의 적극적인 참여를 유도한다. ‘시티도슨트 & 시티가이드’ 프로그램을 통해 강릉의 주요 전시 장소와 역사적 유적지를 탐방할 수 있으며, 강원지방기상청과 협력한 어린이 대상 특별 도슨트 프로그램과 강릉의 기후·환경을 탐구하는 체험형 교육 프로그램도 마련된다.
The third Gangneung International Art Festival focuses on Daegwallyeong – a magnificent mountain pass that crosses Mount Taebaek, leading to Gangneung. While the previous festival told the story of a traveler’s journey through its ancient paths, this year’s edition explores non-human elements that roam the highland’s breathtaking landscape.
The restless wind and drifting clouds that breathe life into the green pastures of spring, the untamed animals and soaring birds that rule the meadows and claim the summer sky, the endless expanse of snow that blankets the earth in winter like a quilt of shimmering silver, and the ancient myths and legends woven into the very soul of this land-whispered through time, carried by the wind. By focusing on these natural and mythical elements, the festival invites you to explore Daegwallyeong from a fresh perspective, revealing its beauty in ways you have never seen before.
