자연과 문화예술의 도시 영월에서 제23회 동강국제사진제를 개최한다. 대한민국 가장 오랜 전통의 동강국제사진제는 올해가 동강국제사진제의 주 전시장인 동강사진박물관이 공립 최초 사진 전문박물관으로 개관한 지 20주년을 맞는 해이다.
12개의 전시를 비롯한 여러 교육, 부대행사로 마련한 이번 행사 중동강국제사진제 수상자전은 올해 수상자인 사진가 원성원의 초기작부터 최근작까지 총망라하여 전시한다. 대표 전시인 국제주제전은 동강사진박물관의 개관 20주년 기념 특별전과 연계한 ‘Museum Project’를 주제로 동강사진박물관의 지난 20년 기록과 함께, 세계 최초 사진박물관 미국 조지이스트먼뮤지엄(George Eastman Museum) 설립 배경과 1852년 설립의 이탈리아 알리나리(Alinari) 소장품을 선보인다. 또한 토마스 스트루트 <Audiences>, 엘리엇 어윗 <Museum Watching> 그리고 구본창 < 백자> 등의 사진 작품을 전시한다.
The 23rd DongGang International Photography Festival is set to take place in Yeongwol, known for its beautiful natural landscapes and rich cultural and artistic heritage. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the opening of the DongGang Museum of Photography, the first public museum in Korea dedicated exclusively to photography.
DIPF 2025 features the 12 exhibitions, educational programs, and extended programs, the DongGang Award- Winners Exhibition will showcase the works of Seoungwon Won, spanning from her early works to his most recent works. The festival’s main exhibition, the Main International Exhibition, will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the DongGang Photo Museum with a special focus on the ‘Museum Project’ theme. This will include a look at the museum’s 20-year history, along with collections from two major institutions in the world of photography: the world’s first photo museum in the US, the George Eastman Museum and the Alinari Collection from Italy, which has been around since 1852. The exhibition will also feature notable works from photographers like Thomas Struth’s Audiences, Elliott Erwitt’s Museum Watching, and Bohnchang Koo’s Vessel series.
