국내외에서 작품 활동을 펼쳐온 조각가 박신영은 《빛의 추상》이라 는 주제로 갤러리 508에서 평면설치 작업을 선보인다.
박신영 작가의 이번 전시에서 드러나는 비현실적이고 몽환적인 빛은 우리의 시야 속에서 분명하고도 존재감 있게 다가온다. 모호하지만 빛에 양감을 부여한 듯한 이 빛들은 색의 덩어리로 호흡한다. 탐미하듯 빛의 숨결들이 눈의 움직임 속에서 진동하고, 우리의 시지각을 뒤흔든다. 밀도 있는 색과 흐린 농도의 색들이 환영 속에서 부유한다. 금테를 두른 우아한 색들 사이에 질량이 없는 대기가 있다.
빛의 추상은 1993년 빛을 부여한 조각으로부터 시작하여 LED 작업, 평면설치작업으로 전개되었다. 영혼의 빛을 찾아가는 여정 속에서 나온 빛들은 심연으로부터 시작되어, 박신영의 추상적 빛은 꿈을 꾸고 있는 대기와 같다. 작가가 존재함의 이유를 예술에서 찾는 것과 같은 정신적 맥락이다. 미지에서 시작되고 미지로 끝나는 매혹적인 빛의 색감들은 텅 빈 충만함으로 우리의 시선을 붙잡는다.
PARK Sinyoung, a sculptor active in Korea and abroad, presents The Abstraction of Light at Gallery 508, featuring flat installation works developed over more than a decade. The light in her work is surreal and dreamlike—ambiguous yet present. Breathing like masses of color, it pulses through the movement of the eye, unsettling perception. Dense tones and faint hues drift in a hallucinatory space, while goldenedged colors hover in weightless air.
The project began with light-infused sculptures in 1993, evolving through LED works into flat installations. Born from deep introspection, these lights reflect her search for the soul’s radiance, resembling an atmosphere caught in a dream. Beginning in the unknown and returning to it, these spectrums of light seize our gaze with a luminous emptiness that feels both full and profound.
