태극은 장구한 인류역사 속에서 역학적, 철학적 사상들이 응축되어 하나의 완결된 도형으로서 전지구차원의 다양한 문화 속에 보편적으로 관찰되는 상징적 형태이다. 태극의 원은 벗어나지 않는 무한의 고리로서 서로 다른 영역과 요소들이 상극이 아닌 상생의 힘을 의미하는 가장 자연적인 형태이자 가장 인위적인 형태이다. 이와 같은 개념을 중심으로 한 ‘태극, 순환반전의 고리’전은 역동적 변화의 시각적 상징이라 할 순환과 반전의 조화형상으로부터, 오늘을 사는 예술가들의 자유로운 생각을 동시대인과 함께 공감할 수 있는 장으로 펼쳐낸다.
이 전시는 고려대학교 박물관(민경헌 관장)과 한국문화교류연구회(박래경 대표) 공동주최이며, 이종상, 정종미, 오숙환, 김구림, 이정지, 김명희, 신영옥, 한애규, 전수천, 육근병, 이상현, 채미현, 이상은, 박다원, 하원 15인의 작가가 참여하고 천체와 대지, 기(氣), 계(界), 생명, 시 공간, 성속(聖俗), 역사 속에서 순환과 반전 등 서로 다른 관점에서 다양한 형식으로 풀어낸다. 김금화의 오프닝 공연 <샤머니즘적 퍼포먼스>와 학술심포지움도 개최한다.
The Korea University Museum and Korea Inter-Cultural Research Council are proud to co-host the exhibition 'Searching for the Global Circle: A Balance in Circulation and Reversal'
As a symbol combining dynamic and philosophical thoughts cultivated in the long history of mankind, Taegeuk is a symbolic form universally observed in the globally diverse cultures. As an infinite cycle in a perfect circle, Taegeuk is the most natural and man-made form that symbolizes the power of coexistence rather than conflict.
Based on such concept, the intention of the exhibition 'Searching for the Global Circle: A Balance in Circulation and Reversal' is to propose a site of communication and learning for contemporary audience by looking at the harmonizing form of circulation and reversal that visually symbolizes dynamic change as well as observing its reflections expressed by contemporary artists. 15 artists including Lee Jong-sang, Jeong Jong-mi, Oh Sook-hwan, Kim ku-rim, Lee Chung-ji, Cou, Myoung-hee, Kim, Shin Young-ok, Han Ai-kyu, Jeon Soocheon, Yook Keun-byung, Lee Sang hyun , Mi-Hyun CHAE & Dr. JUNG, Lee Sang-eun, Park Daa-won and Ha Won, explore the issues of nature, celestial world and earth, energy, boundaries, life, time-space, sacred and the secular, and action and reaction in history, in diverse forms from different perspectives.
