연결_전개 Connecting_Unfolding

 

국립현대미술관 서울관 개관을 기념하여 개최된 ‘연결_전개’전은 기존의 관습적 경계가 무너지고 새로운 차원의 융·복합이 가능해진 이 시대, 예술과 삶의 결합이 미술을 통해서 어떻게 해석되는지 살펴보고자 기획되었다. 

이를 위해 미술관은 여러 나라 큐레이터들인 리차드 플러드(미국 뉴뮤지움), 앤 갤러거(영국 테이트미술관), 유코 하세가와(일본 도쿄현대미술관), 이숙경(영국 테이트미술관), 베르나르트 제렉세(독일 ZKM), 푸자 수드(인도 KHOJ)와의 공동기획으로, 타시타 딘(영국), 킴 존스(미국), 아마르 칸와르(인도), 마크 리(스위스), 리 밍웨이(대만), 키시오 스가(일본), 양민하(한국) 등 7명의 작가를 선정하였다.

이 전시를 통해 이 작가들이 우리 시대와 사회를 향해서 던지는 물음들이 무엇인가에 관해서 생각해 보고, 전통과 현대, 역사와 시대, 사회와 예술 등 다양한 연결고리가 한데 어우러지는 ‘서울관’이라는 장소에서 세계 미술의 예술적 지향 또한 확인해보고자 한다.

‘Connecting_Unfolding’, the premiere exhibition of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Seoul(MMCA Seoul) represents a fresh inquiry into the ways in which our individual values and ideas may erupt into the world, igniting communication and forcing us to reassess the value of art in any given era or society. 

In this context, the exhibition was co-curated with a team of curators : Richard Flood(New Museum, U.S.), Ann Gallagher(TATE, U.K.), Yuko Hasegawa(Museum of Contemporary Art, Japan), Sook-Kyung Lee(TATE, U.K.), Bernhard Serexhe(ZKM, Germany), and Pooja Sood(KHOJ, India) have gathered to select the seven participating artists: Tacita Dean(U.K.), Kim Jones(U.S.), Amar Kanwar(India), Marc Lee(Swiss), Lee Mingwei(Taiwan), Kishio Suga(Japan), and Minha Yang(Korea). 

This landmark exhibition offers us the chance to examine how today's most innovative artists are using their work to address the questions that will mark this extraordinary time in human history. In the marvelous new venue of MMCA Seoul, built to represent the intersection of various concepts the traditional and contemporary, history and the present, society and art, this exhibition illuminates the orientation and spirit of art in today's world.
