2014 부산비엔날레가 64일간 부산시립미술관, 부산문화회관, 고려제강 수영공장 등지에서 개최된다. 올리비에 케플렝(Olivier Kaeppelin, 프랑스) 전시감독이 기획하는 본전시는 ‘세상 속에 거주하기(Inhabiting the World)’를 주제로 추상/운동, 우주, 건축적 공간, 정체성, 동물성, 역사/사회, 자연/경관 등 총 7가지 섹션으로 구성된다. 참여 작가로는 김수자(한국), 아니쉬 카푸어(인도), 파브리스 위베르(프랑스) 등 세계적인 유명작가가 대거 참여하여 오늘날의 불안정한 세계 속에서 예술의 기능과 역할에 대한 새로운 시각을 제안하고자 한다.

2014 부산비엔날레는 본전시와 함께 2개의 특별전도 함께 개최된다. 부산문화회관에서 개최되는 ‘비엔날레 아카이브’전은 한국 현대미술의 해외 비엔날레 진출사를 한눈에 살펴볼 수 있으며 고려제강 수영공장에서 개최되는 ‘아시안 큐레토리얼’전은 바다에 얽혀있는 4가지 시선을 보여준다.

또한, 작품 전시와 함께 학술행사와 국제교류행사, 시민참여행사 등 여러 부대행사도 함께 개최되어 관람객들에게 다양한 볼거리와 경험을 제공할 계획이다. 

The Busan Biennale 2014 will be held from 20th of Septmeber to 22nd of November at several venues including Busan Museum of Art, Busan Cultural Center and KISWIRE Sooyoung Factory etc. The exhibition curated by artistic director Olivier Kaeppelin(France) will be held under the theme of ‘Inhabiting the world’, and the main exhibition is composed of a total 7 sections including abstract/movement, cosmos, architectural space, identity, animality, history/society and nature/paysage, etc. Many world-famouse artists will participate in the Busan Biennale 2014 such as Soo-ja Kim(Korea), Anish Kapoor(India), Fabrice Hyber(France), they will attempts to propose a new perspective on functions and roles of art in the unstable world of today.

Two special exhibitions will be held at the same time with the main exhibition. ‘Biennale Archive’ which is held at the Busan Cultural Center will become a good opportunity to look around the history of Korea’s contemporary art making advancement overseas at a glance. Another special exhibitoin called ‘Asian Curatorial’ held at the KISWIRE Sooyoung Factory will show 4 different perspectives surrounding the sea.

In addition to these, various accompanied programs including academic program, international exchange program and public participating program will provide visitors wide attraction and experience.
