리움미술관은 동시대 미술의 패러다임을 변화시키는 작가 티노 세갈의 국내 첫 개인전을 개최한다. 이번 전시는 사진이나 영상 등 어떠한 물리적 기록도 남기지 않는 작가의 ‘비물질적’ 예술 세계를 한국 관객에게 본격적으로 선보이는 자리이다. 경제학과 무용을 전공한 티노 세갈은 물리적 객체를 생산하는 전통적 방식에 의문을 제기하며 추가적인 자원 소비 없이 인간의 신체, 언어, 상호작용만으로 구성되는 ‘연출된 상황’을 고안했다. 전시장 내 ‘해석자’들은 노래, 춤, 혹은 철학적 질문을 통해 관객과 예상치 못한 조우를 만들어내며, 이는 일방향적 공연을 넘어, 관객과 해석자가 수평적으로 교감하며 발생하는 실시간 경험 자체를 예술의 본질로 간주한다.
이번 전시는 무용의 역동성이 미술관이라는 공간 언어와 만나는 시너지를 조명하며 정적인 미술관을 살아있는 사건의 장소로 변모시켜, 관객이 단순히 관찰자가 아닌 작품의 주체로 참여하는 새로운 감상 경험을 제공한다. 모든 것이 디지털로 아카이브되는 시대, 티노 세갈은 카메라를 내려놓고 오직 감각과 기억에만 의존하는 본질적인 예술적 순간으로 우리를 초대한다.
Leeum Museum of Art presents the first solo exhibition in Korea by Tino SEHGAL, an artist who has pioneered new horizons in contemporary art since the 1990s. SEHGAL creates “constructed situations” in which trained ‘interpreters’ move, sing, and talk, allowing them to interact with the audience in real time.
The exhibition will include new works synthesizing 25 years of the artist's practice, as well as site-specific live art that creatively constructs pieces from the Leeum collection. Throughout the exhibition, trained ‘interpreters’ will continuously present situations, providing engaging live encounters between visitors and those enacting the work.
