대전시립미술관
대전시립미술관은 특별기획전으로 ‘모네에서 워홀까지:한눈에 보는 근현대 서양미술’을 개최한다. 프랑스 생테티엔미술관의 소장품 가운데 대표작 112점을 선별하여 기획한 것으로 19세기말 이래 100년 동안의 서양미술사를 압축적으로 보여주는 교과서적인 전시이다. 구성으로는 모네, 피카소, 레제, 미로, 워홀, 리히텐슈타인 등 작가 82명의 작품을 네 개의 섹션으로 나누었다.
1부에서는 인상주의와 큐비즘 등 모더니즘의 시작과 전개과정, 2·3부에서는 팝아트·신사실주의·미니멀리즘·아르테 포베라 등을 선보임으로써 전근대적인 미술로부터 이탈해서 새로운 태도와 방법을 향해 변모하던 20세기를 집중적으로 조명한다. 4부에서는 독일현대미술의 거장들을 비롯한 동시대 미술의 핵심적인 작가들을 보여줌으로써 이 전시가 모더니즘의 서막과 포스트모더니즘 시대의 미술까지 포괄하고 있다는 점을 알려준다.
이번 전시에서는 대전과 생테티엔의 동시대 예술가들의 교류전도 선보인다. ‘대전-생테티엔 청년작가 교류전(5.25-7.3)’은 2012년 생테티엔미술관에서도 개막해 두 도시 간 예술교류의 장을 만들면서 향후 지속적인 교류협력의 틀을 만들 예정이다.
Daejeon Museum of Art will hold a special exhibition titled ‘Monet to Warhol:A Tour through Modern and Contemporary Western Art.’ is the exhibition that 112 pieces were selected from the Saint-Etienne Museum of Modern Art And this textbook-like exhibition will give local citizens a 100 year history of Western art, from the end of the 19th century to the end of the 20th century. We divided masterworks from 82 artists, including Monet, Picasso, Leger, Miro, and Andy Warhol, into four sections.
The first section will present the start and expansion process of modernism, including impressionism and cubism. The second and third sections will show pieces of pop art, new realism, minimalism, and arte povera, focusing on the 20th century, which deviated from pre-modern art, and aimed toward new attitudes and methods. The fourth section will present for viewers a wide range of artistic pieces that covers from the prologue of modernism to the contemporary art of the postmodern era.
This exhibition will also include pieces from contemporary artists from these two cities Saint-Etienne Museum of Modern Art in 2012. We plan to create a foothold allowing the artists from these two cities to continue exchanging their art works and to form a frame for maintaining continuous cooperation between the two cities.
