광복70주년 한국근현대미술특별전 : 세기의 동행 The Commemorative Special Exhibition of Modern and Contemporary Korean Arts in Memory of the Seventieth Anniversary of the Independence : A Century-long Company

으로 거듭난 한국 사람들의 감성코드를 찾아보는 전시로서, 광복 70주년을 맞아 한국미술사를 통해 우리의 역사와 시대정신을 습득할 수 있는 기회이며, 어린이·청소년 관람객들이 아버지와 할아버지 시대를 자연스럽게 접하며 공유할 수 있는 전시다.

한국 근현대사의 시대흐름에 따라 역사, 문화적 요소를 5개의 키워드로 정리하여 각 시대에 해당하는 작가들의 대표작을 중심으로 근대 초기부터 동시대에 이르기까지 한국근현대미술의 흐름을 짚어보며, 특히 시민과 학생들에게 친숙한 초·중등 미술 교과서에 등장하는 고희동, 나혜석, 박

수근, 이중섭, 김환기, 권진규 등 한국근대미술작가들과 백남준, 이우환, 이불 등 세계적으로 알려진 한국현대미술작가들의 작품을 진품으로 만날 수 있다. 또한 한국미술의 역사와 시대정신을 살펴보는 자료들을 통해 함께 살펴보는 ‘한국근현대미술자료’ 전시도 함께 열린다.

Daejeon Museum of Art is opening ‘The Commemorative Special Exhibition of Modern and Contemporary Korean Arts in Memory of the Seventieth Anniversary of the Independence: A Century-long Company’ from May 23rd to August 23rd. This exhibition features the gurus of the Korean Art who bear the trace of its turbulent history from the 19th Century tradition to the 21st Century postmodernism, in which one can discover the sentiments of the new meaning of Korean citizenship. This is an opportunity to be acquainted with the soul of the Korean art history, in which a wide range of age groups can share the ideas of the past. We present the audience with five key concept, each of which representing an emblematic era of the modern and contemporary Korean arts. Their messages are conveyed via the works of the most popular Korean artists including Go Hui-dong, Na Hye-sok, Park Soo-Kun, Lee Jung-Seop, Kim Hwqn-Ki, Quon Jin-Gyu and etc, who are quite familiar to school

students due to their presence in art textbooks, and Baek Nam-Jun, Lee Woo-Hwan, Ibool and etc, who are now well-known contemporary artists not only in Korea, but worldwide. We also present an additional exhibition, ‘The Archive of the Modern and Contemporary Korean Arts’, which adds on to the ideas provided by the former one.
