한국문화예술위원회 아르코미술관
그 동안 인사미술공간에서 진행하던 프로젝트들이 아르코미술관으로 흡수되면서 싱글채널비디오 작품의 배급, 스크리닝, 아카이브 역할을 담당했던 IASmedia 역시 아르코의 프로그램 으로 자리 잡았다. 아르코미술관은 향후 미디어아트 전시, 스크리닝, 해외교류 등의 다양한 프로그램들을 통하여 전문적인 미디어아트 지원기관으로 자리매김하고있다.
'VIDEO : VIDE &0'는 TV모니터의 오브제화, 반복되는 화려한 이미지의 스펙터클, 테크놀로지를 기반으로 하는 인터렉티브한 작품 등과 같은 비디오 아트에 대한 일반 관객들의 한정된 인식을 확장시킬 수 있는 작업들로 구성되었다. 김순기의 작품에서 빌어 온 전시제목 ‘VIDE & 0’는 불어로는 비어 있음(Vide)과 물(Eau), 또는 허(虛)와 제로(Zero)의 조합으로, 비디오가 삶의 다양한 모습들을 담을 수 있는 ‘비어있는 그릇’, 즉 점차적으로 여러 상태와 다양한 순간들로 흐르면서 변화하는 지속적인 변형의 과정을 수용하는 그릇임을 암시한다.
참여작가는 구동희, 구민자, 김구림, 김순기, 남화연, 박용석, 박현기, 서동욱, 임흥순, 정상현, 조혜정, 함혜경이다.
Projects that were originally run by Insa Art Space are now being assimilated by Arko Art Center. This includes IASmedia, responsible for distribution, screening and archive of single-channel videos. 'VIDEO : VIDE & 0' exhibition will mark the inauguration of the new program at Arko Art Center in establishing itself as a professional organization to support media art and the initiation of future activities such as media art exhibitions, screenings and international exchange.
'VIDEO : VIDE & 0' exhibition aims to expand on the limited nderstanding of video art by the general audience through introduction of works that include works that examine themes like objectness of the television screen and spectacle of the repetitive brilliant image or interactive artworks focused on technology. 'VIDEO : VIDE & O' borrows its title from the title of Kim Soun-gui’s work. It means emptiness (vide) and water (eau) in French and it also forms a combination of void (虛) and zero (0). The title acts as a metaphor for “empty vessel”, alluding to video’s ability to hold an array of images of life; as a plate that accommodates the process of continual transformation ? taking on many different forms and a stream of diverse moments.
