국립중앙박물관(관장 김영나)은 2015년 2월 10일부터 특별전 “빛의 예술, 보헤미아 유리”를 개최한다. 한국과 체코 간 외교관계 수립 25주년을 맞이하여 체코국립박물관ㆍ프라하장식미술관과 공동 개최하는 이번 전시에는 체코가 자랑하는 보헤미아 유리를 중심으로 체코의 역사와 문화를 소개하는 340여 점의 전시품이 선보인다.체코는 아름다운 수도 프라하를 통해 우리에게 많이 알려져 있지만, 체코 보헤미아 지역이 유럽의 유리 문화를 주도했던 유리 생산지라는 사실은 상대적으로 덜 알려져 있다. 이번 전시에는 고대부터 현대까지 보헤미아에서 생산된 다양한 유리 공예품들이 전시되어, 보헤미아 유리가 끊임없는 노력과 기술 개발로 유럽 최고에 이르는 과정을 흥미롭게 살펴볼 수 있을 것이다.특히 보석처럼 투명하고 반짝이는 크리스털 유리는 보헤미아 유리를 대표하는 품목이다. 당시에 인기 있던 주제인 인물 초상, 사냥 장면 등을 섬세하고 정밀하게 새긴 잔들은 보는 이의 감탄을 자아낸다. 또한 유리를 보석처럼 이용한 목걸이, 브로치 등도 시선을 사로잡는다. 중세의 제의복과 십자가, 성배, 성 모자상, 왕관을 쓴 아기 예수상 등은 체코의 기독교 문화를 엿볼 수 있는 또 다른 관람 포인트이다. 전시의 마지막 부분은 유리를 이용한 현대미술 작품으로 꾸며진다.

To mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and the Czech Republic, the National Museum of Korea proudly presents the 2015 special exhibition The Story of Bohemian GlassArt of Light: Bohemian Glass from the Czech Republic, which introduces the history and culture of the Czech Republic through the unrivaled glass artworks of Bohemia. The tradition of Bohemian glass has persisted for generations without interruption, as master artisans have continuously sought to advance their techniques and achieve new innovations. To this day, numerous artistanss in the region continue to create extraordinary works with a seemingly endless array of shapes and colors, demonstrating the finest craftsmanship. The works in this exhibition range from ancient times to the contemporary era, allowing visitors to appreciate the entire trajectory of Bohemian glass.
