‘사물학II : 제작자들의 도시’ 는 지난해 국립현대미술관 과천관에서 열린 ‘사물학 : 디자인과 예술’의 연장선에 있는 기획 전시다. ‘사물학II : 제작자들의 도시’는 사물과 그것을 만드는 주체(제작자)를 조명하고, 이러한 삶의 실천적 문제들에 관심을 기울이는 문화연구자와 기록생산자들이 다양한 협업의 형태로 실험적이고 비평적인 작업을 선보인다. 전시장은 4개의 공간으로 구성된다. [section 1 지역성과 제작문화]에서는 도시의 소외된 공간에서 지속하여온 제작 소상공인들의 노동과 삶에 주목하여 도시 공간을 새롭게 읽어내는 작업이, [section 2 기술과 제작]에서는 동시대의 다양한 제조 기술이 사물의 제작 과정, 개인과 사회 그리고 사물과의 관계에 미치는 영향을, [section 3 제작 공동체]에서는 비평적 관점의 만들기와 제작을 통한 실천적 행위를 촉구하는 창작(제작)자 네트워크의 작업을 소개한다. [section 4 오픈소스의 공간 ‘카피룸 CopyRoom’]에서는 참여 작가들의 다양한 자료들을 관람객들이 직접 열람하거나 복사할 수 있으며, 이번 전시를 위해 특별 제작된 영상을 상영한다. 

As a follow-up to the exhibition titled Objectology: Design and Art held last year at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Gwacheon, the exhibition Objectology II: Make reflects ‘object and its maker’ and spotlights the works of visual art workers/culture studies researchers/producers of written records who have vested interest in ‘maker culture’. Creative and critical approaches are also taken in the act of reorganizing social problems through collaborative works. The exhibition venue consists of 4 sections: Section 1 (Regionality and the Maker culture) focuses on the labor and life of small business people who have been producing at neglected spaces in cities. Section 2 (Technology and the Act of Making) speculates on the influence of various contemporary technologies for production on the making process of objects as well as on the relationship between individuals, society, and objects. Section 3 (Maker Community) presents new networks of creators(producers), who demand actions through productions from critical viewpoints. Lastly, Section 4 presents an open space dubbed "CopyRoom" where visitors can view or copy various data referenced by the participating artists. A documentary produced for this exhibition will be screened as well.
