루벤스, 바로크 걸작전은 바로크 미술의 집대성인 동시에 그 절정을 이룬 위대한 화가 피터 폴 루벤스(Peter Paul Rubens, 1577-1640)의 작품세계와 더불어 그의 제자들, 그리고 동시대를 장식했던 작가들의 다양한 걸작품들을 한자리에 선보이는 바로크 회화전이다. 이번 전시에는「안토니스 반 다이크」, 「야콥 반 루이스달」, 「얀 반 호이엔」등과 같은 완숙의 경지에 이른 플랑드르 작가들의 걸출한 작품들을 비롯해 17세기 네덜란드의 황금시대를 아우르는 북부 네덜란드의 개혁적인 시민예술작품들 75점이 소개된다. 그중에서도 무려 19점에 달하는 루벤스의 작품들은 전시의 중심축을 이루며, 시대를 초월하여 유럽 전역에 지대한 영향을 끼친 바로크 거장의 진면목을 보여주게 될 것이다. 천재화가 피터 폴 루벤스는 북유럽 바로크 미술의 선구자로 역동적인 구성과 강렬한 움직임, 그리고 자유로운 빛의 표현과 그만의 빠른 필력으로 작품에 생명력을 불어넣는 새로운 화법을 추구하며 당대의 화가들에게 지대한 영향을 끼쳤다. 전시에서는 <오레이티아를 납치하는 보레아스>, <삼미신>, <파리스의 심판>등 루벤스의 대표작 19점이 전시되며 특히 그가 제자의 도움 없이 손수 그린 16점이 공개된다. 그의 독자적인 세계를 느낄 수 있는 기회가 될 것이다.

‘Rubens, Baroque Masterpieces’is the biggest Baroque
painting exhibition which very firstly introduced in Korea. This exhibition covers various Baroque artists’works including Peter Paul Rubens; the achieving synthesis of Baroque painting that hold the zenith position of era and his pupil and artists’works shone same period.
This Exhibition includes total 75 pieces of Baroque paintings of fully ripened Flandres artists’work such as Anthony Van Dyck, Jacob van Ruisdael, Jan van Goyen. Furthermore blooming seventeenth century’s Northern Netherlands’innovative citizenry arts will be introduced. Especially 19 masterpieces of Rubens in center will show its true color that transcended the time and influenced all around the Europe. Peter Paul Rubens, the pioneering prodigy of Northern Baroque painting had effected to artists of same age by his dynamic composition, impressive movement, free expression of lights and unique fast painting skills. This exhibition includes 19 important works of Paul Rubens such as ＜Boreas Abducting Oreithyia＞, ＜The Three Graces＞, ＜The Judgement of Paris＞ and especially 16 works which drawn by only Rubens without any help. This exhibition could be a great opportunity to learn Rubens’s unique arts.
