마리노 마리니-기적을 기다리며

‘마리노 마리니-기적을 기다리며’전은 평생 마리노 마리니(1901-1980)의 예술세계를 알리는데 진력을 다해온 부인, 마리나 마리니 여사(생존)에 의해 설립된 마리노 마리니재단(이탈리아, 피스토이아)의 우호적인 협력에 힘입어 기획된 전시이다. 전후 구상 조각계를 선도하였으며 기마상의 작가로 유명한 마리니의 조각 및 회화작품을 국내 최초로 소개하는 이번 전시는 작가의 전시기에 걸친 작품을 주제별ㆍ시기별로 구성함으로써, 기마상의 작가로만 알려진 마리노 마리니의 작품세계를 기마상, 포모나(Pomona), 초상조각으로 나누어 살펴보고, 이를 통해 그의 작품세계 전반에 걸친 고찰과 더불어 기마상이 그의 작품세계 속에서 점하는 위치를 살펴볼 수 있다. 덕수궁미술관의 ‘마리노 마리니-기적을 기다리며’전을 통해 불안의 시대인 20세기를 바라보는 작가의 시대 인식과 그러한 시대를 산 예술가로서의 고뇌를 살피는 계기가 될 것이다.

Marino Marini-Waiting for Miracle

Having made possible by the friendly collaboration of the Marino Marini Foundation which was founded by Mrs. Marina Marini who has dedicated herself to promote the art of her husband, Marino Marini, this exhibition introduces for the first time in Korea the sculptures and paintings of Marini who was one of the most influential sculptors in the post-war sculptural scene and is well known for his equestrian statues. For this exhibition, his entire works of art are classified in accordance with themes and periods, and the art of Marini whose artistic fame is regrettably dependant of his equestriansculptures will be examined in three categories of equestrian sculptures, Pomona figures, and portraits. This way of structuring the exhibition will help one to make general observation of his oeuvre and at the same time to examine what significance his equestrian statures hold in his art. ‘Marino Marini-Waiting for Miracle’ presented by National Museum of Art, Deoksugung will be very helpful in understanding the artist’s view on the anxiety of the 20th century and his struggle as an artist who lived such times.
