스페인 아르코 아트페어

아르코 ARCO는 스페인 마드리드에서 열리는 세계 5대 아트페어 중 하나이다. 26회째를 맞는 올 2007년에는 총 30개국 260여 개 화랑이 참가한다. 아르코에서는 매년 한 나라를 주빈국으로 초청하며 주빈국의 화랑들이 대거 참석함으로써 새로운 미술 경향을 소개하고 양국 문화교류를 활성화시키는 계기로 작용한다. 아시아에서는 최초로 한국이 주빈국으로 선정되었으며, 14개의 한국화랑이 38명의 작품을 가지고 참가한다.

주빈국 전체 행사의 컨셉은 스페인어 꼬레아 아오라 Corea Ahora로 영어로 Korea Now 라는 뜻이다. 주빈국은 아트페어 뿐만 아니라 마드리드 곳곳의 문화기관과 함께 다양한 문화행사를 기획하는 특권을 갖는다. 한국은 이번 행사에 아트페어에 14개 화랑이 참가하는 것 외에도 7개의 전시와 4개의 공연행사, 3개의 영화제 등 각종 문화행사를 마드리드의 다양한 문화기관들과 함께 진행한다. 한국현대미술 작가들 90여명, 공연ㆍ영화ㆍ문학 분야의 다양한 예술가들이 참여하는 등 사상 최대 규모로 한국의 문화를 선보인다.

Feria Internacional de Arte Contemporaneo (International Contemporary Art Fair)

ARCO is one of the five world biggest art fairs held in Madrid, Spain. In February 2007, ARCO is commemorating its 26th anniversary and approximately 260 galleries of 30 countries will participate this year. Every year ARCO invites one country as a special guest country and many galleries of the country present their artists. Though the invitation of the special guest country, new trend of contemporary arts of the guest country can be introduced intensively and the cultural relationship between the guest country and Spain becomes prosperous. Korea is the first Asian country invited as a special guest country. 14 leading Korean galleries will present 38 Korean artists in this event.

The concept of all the events by 2007 ARCO special guest country is ‘Corea Ahora’ in Spanish. In English, it means ‘Korea Now’.
The guest country can enjoy privilege of planning various cultural events in collaboration with many cultural institutions in Madrid. Organizing Committee of Korea at ARCO 2007 is making 7 exhibitions, 4 performances and 3 film festivals. About 90 Korean artists can have a chance to present themselves to Europe art world through this event. This will be recorded as the biggest Korean advance in European art world.
