국립현대미술관에서 창동 및 고양 두 곳에 운영하고 있는 국립미술창작스튜디오가 5주년을 맞이하여, 대표작가 13인의 전시로 구성된 ‘공통경계(Conㆍterminal)’전을 개최한다. 이번 전시에서는 창동 및 고양스튜디오를 거쳐 간 입주작가 150여 명 중 선정된 13명의 젊고 패기 넘치는 작가들의 작업세계를 선보인다.
지난 5년 동안 국립미술창작스튜디오는 아시아, 유럽 등지의 여러 작가 지원공간과의 활발한 문화교류를 추진하여 우리작가들의 작업의 폭을 넓히는 계기를 마련하기도 하였으며, 다양한 국적의 예술가들이 서로 자극을 주고받으며 소통하고 교류할 수 있는 장으로 역할 해왔다. 이러한 국제적인 창작 환경 속의 다양한 작가들은 각각의 예술 영역에서 독립적인 활동을 하는 동시에 상호 영향을 주고받으며 ‘예술과 자유를 지향하는 삶’이란 공통분모로 ‘공통 경계’를 이루고 있다.
국립미술창작스튜디오가 배출한 국제적으로 촉망받는 작가 13인이 펼치는 이번 전시에는 지난 5년 사이 국립미술창작스튜디오에 입주하여 열정을 바쳐 작업한 이들의 작업세계를 담은 다큐멘터리도 상영되어, 한국의 창작스튜디오 역사를 정리하고, 미래를 제시하는 뜻 깊은 기회가 될 것이다.
Conㆍterminal
The National Art Studio-Changdong & Goyang, run by National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea, presents a specially organized exhibition to mark the fifth anniversary of its founding. Titled ‘Conㆍterminal’, the exhibition brings together a group of artworks by 13 up-and-coming, aspiring artists who have been selected out of its all about 150 resident artists.
The exhibition, composed of those artists who are all now working actively in a variety of art genres such as painting, installation, sculpture, video, and media at home and abroad, can be seen as the result of the Studio’s five-year-long activities to enhance the potential and a creative environment of the visual arts of Korea.
In this show featuring the art worlds of 13 internationally promising artists, a documentary on the artists in residence who, for last five years, did their works with great verve is to be presented.
