금호미술관의 첫 번째 디자인 기획전 <유토피아>는 1919년부터 1933년까지 독일에서 발생한 현대 생활문화의 혁명에 관한 전시이다.
새로운 주거형태를 위한 실험의 장이었던 슈투트가르트 바이센호프주거단지, 현대 부엌 디자인의 효시 프랑크푸르트 부엌, 그리고 바우하우스 세 가지 컨텐츠로 구성된 이번 전시는 당시의 예술가, 건축가들의 실험정신과 이데올로기가 응집된 공간들을 재구성함으로써 제1차 세계대전 이후 정치적 혼란기를 겪던 독일에서 꿈꾸었던‘유토피아’가 과연 무엇이었으며, 현재 우리에게 절실한‘삶의 문화, 예술, 그리고 디자인이란 무엇인가’를 고민하고자 기획되었다.
1919-1933년 독일에서 꿈꾸었고 이제는 삶과 현실이 된 유토피아를 재구성한 이번 전시는 2008년 우리들의 현실을 되돌아볼 수 있는 기회를 제공할 것이다.
＜Utopia＞, the design exhibition organized by Kumho Museum of Art, is a speculation on innovative ideas of Modern Living Culture between 1919 and 1933, which pursued creating an ideal world by changing the landscape of our everyday lives. The exhibition focuses on the auhaus, the Frankfurt Kitchen, and the Weissenhofsiedlung as its main contents.
By introducing these subjects, the exhibition illustrates the ideals artists and architects dreamt about in the era of political turmoil in Germany fter the World WarⅠ. At the same time, it reconstructs the spaces into which their experimental spirits and ideology were contained. This will help us look back on the thought about Contemporary Living Culture ncluding architecture and design of our time.
＜Utopia＞, which was a dream at a moment in history and now has ecome reality, is a creative review giving us an opportunity to freshen up our eyes to see our modern dwellingexhibition.
