＜이미지 연대기＞전은 아르코미술관의 소장품을 중심으로 8명의 큐레이터들 - 강홍구(작가), 김보민(작가), 김영기(만화가), 김윤호(작가), 김학량(동덕여대 큐레이터학과 교수), 노형석(한겨레21 기자), 이은주(브레인팩토리 큐레이터), in2museum(미술관 교육기관) - 이 풍경, 글씨의 기억, 사람과 사람 등의 소주제를 선정하여 작품들에 대한 재조명을 시도하는 전시이다. 일방적으로 소장품을 나열하는 기존의 소장품전 연출 방식을 탈피하여, 주제에 맞춰서 새롭게 작업을 제작하거나 소장품 이외의 작품들을 덧붙이는 형식을 취한다는 점에서 <이미지 연대기>는 기존의 소장품전들과 차별된다. 큐레이터들이 선택한 작품들은 각각의 사적 또는 공적인 기억을 환기시키며 소주제별로 새로운 컨텍스트를 엮어나간다. 한편 각 주제들을 효과적으로 구현하기 위해 전시 디자이너로 참여하는 최정화(작가)는 큐레이터들이 제안한 전시 연출방식을 하나로 묶어 보다 유기적인 공간 구성을 연출한다.
＜Chronicle of Images＞ is the title of the new approach to exhibition the collection at the Arko Art Center. The way of exploring Arko collection aims at recreating the collection by 8 curators: KANG Hong-goo(Artist), KIM BoMin(Artist), KIM Young Ki(Cartoonist), KIM Yun Ho(Artist), KIM Hang-nyang(Instructor, dept. of Curatorial Studies and Art Management, Dongduk Women's University), ROH HyungSuk(Editor, Hangyuerae 21), LEE Eunju(Curator, Brain Factory), and in2museum. Each space at two galleries will have its own independent, themed display, such as ‘Landscape’, ‘Memory of Writing’, ‘Person and Person’, etc. Here, the artists of the production and other works relates to each theme will be collaborated together, rather than listing the collection in the same terms as pasts. By the curators' choices, fresh narratives and contexts at each theme will be linked and reveal public memory. Chronicle of Images refers not only to each theme, but invites CHOI Jung-hwa(Artist) to collaborate each curators' interests to set the organic alight within a set of space.
